Hi there! Congratulations a million times over!

I discovered your blog a few months ago and knew I had to email you. We have SO much in common!
    1) We are Catholic.
    2) We homeschool.
    3) We homeschool using a Classical Curriculum.
    4) We have 3 boys.
    5) Mine are 6, 2 and newborn (okay, he just turned 3 months)
    6) I live just South of you, in Texas.
    7) I have family in Oklahoma! Wilson (Ardmore) area, to be exact.

Anyway, I just think it’s so cool. I like your blog – a lot – and am working on lesson plans for our first grade year (going year round for now). I am stuck. I looked at your page and you make it sound so easy… I’m just going to take a deep breath and try to get through it and not overwhelmed. I am actually using St. Thomas Aquinas Academy (www.staa-homeschool.com) for the first time this year. I think I am going to like it a lot. Okay, that’s it for now. Enjoy that baby and I hope to become email/cyber friends when you come up for air!
    Blessings, Robin

      Hi, Robin!

Come up for air – that’s the truth. I want so badly to sit and blog all day, but these kiddos insist on things like eating food and having fresh diapers :) Finding time to blog has been a challenge, but I have been able to work on our first grade plans quite a bit. I will be posting about our curriculum in the coming months. Since I have a newborn, we are not going to school year round this year. I plan on starting August 1ish. Maybe July if the weather turns unbearable like last summer.

Making things look easy in blogland is absolutely an illusion. None of this is easy, as I’m sure you have discovered. Just take a look at my failed RE Unit Studies if you need an example. It sounded like a good idea, but I never made more than about three units total. Waaaay too much work for the middle of the school year, while pregnant.

Thanks for reading and I hope you can find some good ideas and encouragement from my blog. Feel free to email me anytime (info@ourcatholichomeschool.com). Good luck and God bless!

P.S. — Maybe you could upload your lesson plan forms (weeklies, dailies) … you know, in your spare time. :) I’m checking out your grocery spreadsheet now. I am SO going to use this! We are just starting to try to stick to a grocery budget again. Sigh.

I forgot to mention that I used to follow Money Saving Mom DAILY. Like a million times a day. But during Lent, I gave up Facebook and I sort of stopped checking Money Saving Mom, as well. I liked her ideas, but I found that my time was better spent just with my kids. I don’t know. I do enjoy the freebies she posts, but I now live in a small town with only Wal-Mart and Brookshire Bros, so a lot of things aren’t worth it to me. (that was another thing we have in common – the Money Saving Mom thing). :)

Congratulations on your lesson plans! I need to get off of here and start…but I got on to read your posts on lesson planning again.

    Did I mention I get side-tracked —- a lot?

    Hi Catie,
I just found your blog through the MODG families yahoo group. I have enjoyed reading through it and think your baby’s picture is precious! I would like to pass the Liebster Blog Award on to you. You can find out more about it here, at my blog -
    http://academyofthegoodshepherd.blogspot.com/
    Blessings to you!
    Becky

      Hi, Becky!
Thanks for the award! I am going to pass it on just as soon as I sift through the blogs I read and see which ones fit the criteria of the award. What a great way to help out a fellow blogger with some extra traffic!
